\nSelasa, 31\/07\/07 –<\/b>Timbalan Perdana Menteri Israel berkata bahawa negaranya mungkin akan kekal di Bukit Golan, Syria sampai bila-bila. Hayem Ramon menjelaskan dalam satu kenyataan kepada radio Israel bahawa, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153kami boleh kekal di Golan sampai bila-bila\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6ia akan menjadi pertaruhan dengan rundingan damai dengan Syria.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d

\nIsrael telah menguasai Bukit Golan pada tahun 1967 dan mengisytiharkannya sebagai wilayah jajahannya pada tahun 1981.<\/p>\n

Orang kedua dalam kerajaan Israel itu memberikan rasional terhadap perkara itu dengan berkata, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Golan dahulunya tidak bermilik (pada tahun 1967) yang mana ia bukan milik Syria, juga bukan milik Palestin. Asad juga meminta jaminan yang mengesahkan kesediaan negara Ibri itu untuk berundur dari bukit tinggi Golan sebelum memulakan rundingan damai dengannya.<\/p>\n

Namun, Perdana Menteri Israel, Ehud Olmert menyeru Presiden Syria Sabtu lalu untuk berunding secara langsung tanpa perantaraan, serta tanpa menunggu perantaraan Amerika sambil memberi contoh pengalaman negaranya dengan Mesir dan Jordan.<\/p>\n
