Jumaat , 13\/08\/2010 – <\/strong>Ketua Staf Israel, Letjen Gabi Ashkenazi, mengatakan bahawa sebagai komander Tentera Darat dia akan bertanggung jawab ke atas pembunuhan armada pembebasan yang berlaku dua bulan yang lalu di perairan antarabangsa.<\/p>\nDia menyatakan kesaksiannya pada hari Khamis di hadapan Suruhanjaya Turkel yang menyiasat peristiwa pembunuhan beramai-ramai Israel terhadap armada pembebasan. Memetik katanya, “Keputusan untuk memilih saya dari pemimpin-pemimpin atau tentera-tentera lain untuk bersaksi adalah keputusan yang tepat. ” Dia menjelaskan bahawa ini akan memudahkannya untuk melakukan siasatan dalaman terhadap tentera sekali gus mengambil tindakan terhadap setiap kapal yang belayar ke Gaza.<\/p>\n
Tegasnya lagi, tentera penjajah Israel adalah telus dan sentiasa di bawah pemerhatian manakala setiap langkah yang diambil akan diteliti terlebih dahulu. Beliau turut menekankan bahawa penjajah Israel akan sentiasa mengambil langkah berjaga-jaga untuk mengelakkan mana-mana kapal dari sampai Semenanjung Gaza.\u00a0 Pernyataannya itu dipaparkan kelmarin sejurus selepas kesaksian Perdana Menteri Israel Benjamin Netanyahu dan Menteri Ketenteraan Israel, Ehud Barak, di hadapan jawatankuasa.<\/p>\n
